What is 1000 Books Before Kindergarten?
1000 Books Before Kindergarten at Union Public Library is a free program that encourages families to read 1000 books with their child before the child enters Kindergarten. 1000 books may seem like a lot, but if you read just one book each day, you will be done in under 3 years…so get started today!
Any reading counts – whether you’re reading a book for the first time, or it’s an old friend that you read over and over. Each time you read it, put it on the list!
Why?
You are your child’s first teacher! Reading with your child promotes bonding and increases your child’s literacy skills. Click here to find out more about the official organization that created 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.
