Memorializing African American History: Cemeteries, Monuments, and Markers

Attendees are expected to be on time for all programs. A grace period of 10 minutes will be given to patrons attending a program. Admittance after this arrival time is at the discretion of the library staff.

Programs may be cancelled for a number of reasons, chiefly: severe weather, absence of the presenter, or low registration. Cancelled programs are not automatically rescheduled.

Dr. Linda Caldwell-Epps will discuss an overview of the challenges that protecting and restoring African American cemeteries, monuments, and markers face and how community efforts supported by local historians have preserved and created physical reminders of the richness of our collective past.
